The Importance of Upgrades in World of Warcraft
Upgrades are new items that boost your stats. They can be used to upgrade your armor, trinkets and weapons.
Upgrades to items use a system known as "upgrade pity" to calculate probabilities. This system is designed to minimize extremes of chance and provide a safety net when upgrading.
Armor
The item upgrader allows players the ability to upgrade equipment levels of their weapons, armor and trinkets. The upgrades are applied to the gear through a visit to an item upgrader NPC with the appropriate currency. The attributes of an item are upgraded when it is upgraded.
This NPC is located in every major city and is located at the edge of the square, near the teleport. The NPC can upgrade any armor, weapon, or trinket except for those that require a quest, or crafting.
Note: The equipment you use to apply an upgrade is consumed for the duration of time. There are no multiple upgrades applied to a piece of equipment; trying to apply an upgrade with one already applied will cause the previous upgrade to be overwritten.
Upgrading your gear is a great method to maximize the power of your gear, and increase your damage, survivability, and overall power. For example, if you have new Benthic gear that you purchased from the War Within Mythic Dungeon, it will be at level 385 by default. It can be upgraded to a higher level using [Prismatic Manapearls[Prismatic Manapearls]. Upgrades to your PvE gear are account-wide. Upgrades to your PvP equipment will require a specific currency such as [Valorstones] and [Harbinger Crests[Harbinger Crests]. The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade additional gear in an armor slot decreases after the first upgrade.
Weapons
Weapons are a key component of any successful character, whether employed to deter a murderous creature, kill an intruder, win a target shooting contest or simply hang on the wall. No matter how you plan on using a particular weapon, it's important to keep in mind that it's possible to upgrade it and will evolve according to your style of play.
Upgrades to weapons can be made by visiting a Blacksmith that has a Weapon Workbench available. Blacksmith Hewg, located in the right part of the Roundtable Hold hub, is a great choice to upgrade your weapon. Iji is a Smithing Master located in the northwestern region, "Road to the Manor", of Liurna. Smithing Master Iji enhances armor and weapons.
In general upgrading an item can increase the weapon's level by 5. However, for Azerite weaponry (see below) and other weapons that are special the item's ilvl will increase by 15. The player can only have one upgrade active at a time. If you try to upgrade a weapon when another upgrade is applied the upgrade will fail and your weapon will be returned to its original level.
In addition to increasing the weapon's level of a weapon an upgrade can also grant it additional stats that can be used to increase its power. Some upgrades will be passive while others will provide more damage, more powerful attacks, improved range, or critical strike chances.
Some weapons can be upgraded to a higher level with an Ashes of War weapon, which is rewarded for defeating certain raid bosses. Whetblades are rare items which allow you to unlock new Affinities for weapons.
Once a weapon is fully upgraded, it will continue to receive additional upgrades for as long as the player has the correct upgrade materials and currency in to. You should be aware that weapons can only be upgraded to the level of 25 and not higher. Players should upgrade their weapons only after they've obtained the maximum number of upgrades possible from regular and Whetblade item.
Trinkets
The Trinkets provide a variety of Boosts. They can be upgraded just like any other equipment by directly interacting with the Item Upgrader.
Stardew Valley is the place where you will find an item upgrading tool. To make use of it, you must first take off any armor or weapons that you have equipped. The NPC will then appear with a red banner "Equiped" over his head.

Each trinket is able to be upgraded beyond the basic upgrade. They can boost an item's effectiveness, but could require more materials or ability to obtain. Some are obtained by interacting with a NPC in a quest while others are available as drops from dungeons and battlegrounds.
The Item Upgrader NPC can be found in various locations throughout the game. Locations are listed on the map. Certain NPCs only provide upgrades for specific kinds of equipment, while others can be used to upgrade any item. Certain NPCs also have additional perks accessible to players who complete quests with them. For example, the NPC in Shattering Rift offers a new toy when players take down the Ancient Beast, while the NPC in the Eastern Guard Tower provides players with a special trinket.
Set Pieces
A set piece is an important scene that enhances a film and stays with viewers long after the credits have ended. Upgrading, or upping as it is commonly referred to is the process of turning a normal, unique, set or rare item into an elite version of that same item. This is accomplished by purchasing a component upgrade from the upgrade menu, and then incorporating it into the base item that has been upgraded.
This will unlock the stats that were originally restricted to the base item's requirement, or maxed out version. These enhanced stats are what make the upgraded version of an item more valuable than its base counterpart. The maximum defense rolls and upgrade requirements for each upgraded version are listed in the table below.
Generally, upgrading an item will boost its value, but there are some exceptions. For example, if an item has intrinsically high requirements that limit its use (take Whistan's shield in FB sorcs as an example) or the item has a very low base stat that could be upgraded to achieve the perfect or highest roll, it will only see the most limited use, and therefore gain only a small amount of value.
